From Sunshine Challenge Prompt 5
"Part man and part goat, Pan is a nature god well known in many mythologies. Born in Arcadia to Hermes and a dryad, Pan was a precocious child whose goat’s feet and horned head delighted the gods, but startled the mortals he lived nearer to; Pan did not live on Mount Olympus, but rather in the forests and wilds of Arcadia. Pan famously invented a musical instrument: the syrinx, or pan pipes as they are more commonly known. He is known for his haunting melodies, and music was often a central part to his worship."
Well, this one was basically a free space for me, with music being part of the prompt, so I chose to do a song I really wanted an excuse to translate ever since I first heard it.
Joe Pang's Korean Cover of "Welcome to the Black Parade".
Because when I first heard this song I noticed the "We'll Carry On" parts were translated as "함께가자", which translatest to "Let's Go Together".
Making this the first song I've translated that WASN'T originally japanese or made as a replacement for an anime song.
This was a difficult one, there's a couple bits where I had to actually use google translate's services to get a reasonable sounding translation, and I have no idea why this translation has a word that, as far as I can tell, exclusively translates to "author(s)". But I managed!
Translation:
In my childhood days, my father took me to see a marching band.
He said "When you've grown could you save destroyed, pitiful authors?"
"And will you chase the devils, unbelievers and conspiracies out of your breath?"
"Someday, I'll leave for the black parade, to become a ghost to guide you."
In my childhood days, my father took me to see a marching band.
He said "When you've grown could you save destroyed, pitiful authors?"
Sometimes it looks like she's guarding me
Then she asks me to leave again.
Climb through the ups and downs.
The Lost bodies
Before leaving, remember this one thing.
Let's go together, let's go together.
Although we will die, let's go together with that memory.
Let's go together.
My heart alone is not enough, the hymn is not enough...
The world that knocks you down with crushed dreams.
Your hate will destroy everything.
Then paint it black and embrace it.
We fight until we hear the call.
Let's go together, let's go together.
Although we will die, let's go together with that memory.
Let's go together.
In the end everything crumbles, but it becomes a memory.
Try me once, I don't care.
Try to kill me, it won't stop me.
You can't even, try to stop the next world.
Try again, it won't work.
We just, want one thing.
No explanations or apologies.
All my injuries are visible.
I applaud the broken.
Try and hear
I saw this.
I'm just an ordinary guy.
That is singing this song.
I'm just an ordinary guy.
I... just...
Let's go together, let's go together.
Although we will die, let's go together with that memory.
